The old design is back for all users who wish to view Metro apps in their browsers

As I reported a few hours ago, Microsoft rolled out a completely new design of the browser-based Windows Store, thus bringing it in line with the Windows 8.1 OS update.

While the new appearance was indeed borrowing some cues from Microsoft’s Modern design style, it appears that the software giant was actually only testing it for a limited period of time.

At this point, the new look is no longer available and users are provided with the old interface released together with Windows 8 in October 2012.

The Redmond-based company might actually release the new design in a couple of weeks when it is also expected to unveil the final version of the Windows 8.1 operating system.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for a word on this, so we’ll update the article when and if we get an answer.
