Redmond-based software giant Microsoft Corporation has started offering new versions of its Remote Desktop software for iOS and OS X platforms, giving users support for Microsoft RemoteApp, which enables you to make programs that are accessed remotely appear as if they are running on the end user's local computer.

Instead of being presented to users in the desktop of the Remote Desktop Session Host server, RemoteApps are integrated with the client's desktop running in their own resizable window. They can be dragged around between multiple monitors, and they even have their own taskbar entry. A RemoteApp will share the same Remote Desktop Services session if a user is running more than one RemoteApp on the same RD Session Host server.

Today’s Microsoft Remote Desktop updates for iOS and OS X add support for RemoteApps, URL Scheme support (on iOS), exporting updates for desktop users (printer redirection feature part of RDP file), and an improved Remote Resources experience.

Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.6 requires an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard) or later. On mobile devices, the software calls for iOS 6.0 as the minimum firmware requirement and works with most iDevices currently in circulation today.
