Now lets you navigate your Xbox 360 with swipe and tap, use iOS keyboard to type

Formerly known as My Xbox LIVE, Xbox SmartGlass 2.0 is now available from Microsoft Corporation with numerous new features and enhancements, including the ability to navigate your Xbox 360 console with swipe and tap gestures.

Microsoft offers the Xbox SmartGlass app “to enhance your entertainment on Xbox 360.”

“Xbox SmartGlass lets your device work with your Xbox 360 console to bring rich, interactive experiences and unique content about what you’re watching or playing, right to the device that’s already in your hand,” according to the maker of Windows.

“Interact with your favorite TV shows, movies, music, sports, and games, and bring remote control to a whole new level,” adds Microsoft Corp.

The app also comes in handy when you want to connect with your Xbox friends. For example, you can use it to track and compare your achievements.

New in Version 2.0 is the added ability to navigate your Xbox 360 with swipe and tap commands. You can now use your iPhone’s keyboard to type on your Xbox 360. The iPad is also supported, in case you need a bigger keyboard.

You can now browse the web on your Xbox 360 with full keyboard and zooming, as well as control music and videos (play, pause, fast forward, rewind, and stop), and search the full Xbox catalog of music, video, and game titles. Other cool features are listed below.

Weighing in at 33.6 MB, Xbox SmartGlass 2.0 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad.

It requires iOS 5.0 or later. The app doesn’t display full-screen on the iPhone 5.
