14 DAY TRIAL // With only 3 days left until the official release of Xbox One, Microsoft launched the Android companion application for the next-generation console.
The application is now available for download via Google Play Store, but iOS users can also grab Xbox One SmartGlass through App Store, while Windows Phone fans should head to Windows Phone Store.
Microsoft fans who already own an Xbox 360 should know that the new Android application is completely different than the SmartGlass app that's compatible with their consoles.
With the Xbox One SmartGlass, users will be able to search for new Xbox One games. In addition, the application allows them to view various information, including game details, achievements and challenges, so that they can be ready before their favorite games get released.
But there's more to it, as Xbox One SmartGlass allows users to connect with friends and the Xbox Live community before they even finish setting up their console. Users will also be able to check their friends' achievements, or read their messages while on the move.
Last but not least, the application provides users with the option to personalize the dashboard by pinning favorite games and apps to the Home screen for quicker access.
In order to connect the Xbox One SmartGlass application to consoles, simply use the same wireless network on the Android device as the Xbox One and open the app to automatically connect the two.
Microsoft has also confirmed it has “partnered with developers to deliver some amazing experiences for movies, games and apps available on day one and beyond worldwide, such as “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Fast & Furious 6,” “Dead Rising 3,” “Just Dance 2014,” “Battlefield 4,” Internet Explorer and Machinima.
You can now download Xbox One SmartGlass for Android for free via Google Play store. Keep in mind the application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
