Jim Allchin, Microsoft Co-President, Platform and Services Division has talked in the past about updating the brand new Windows Vista. And this will be the case with the vast majority of Windows Vista first installs. Moreover so since Microsoft has made available a batch of updates for Windows Vista.

With this updates batch, the Redmond Company has provided a fix for issues related to installing Windows Vista on computers with more than 3 GB RAM, presenting an error message similar to: "STOP 0x0000000A (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL."

Microsoft has also resolved an issue related to the Advanced Search to search by date with a non-Gregorian calendar. The issue is common in Japanese versions of the operating system. Additionally, a variety of problems related to USB hardware devices and controllers in Windows Vista have been resolved via an update.

On rare occasions, following driver or program installations, Vista will ask the user to activate. This is another issue that Microsoft has fixed. Yet another update is designed to address the functionality of the IE7 Phishing Filter on Windows Vista. Windows Vista will no longer send error reports without the express permission of the user.

Last but not least, one of the updates in this batch delivers compatibility for a plethora of applications. "The Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update is a package of software updates that address common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista. When you try to install and run certain legacy games or applications in Windows Vista, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms: the game or application may not be installed correctly, the game or application may cause system instability, the primary functions of the game or application may not work correctly," revealed Microsoft.
