Microsoft has just pushed the new Windows 10 build 10041, originally released to users enrolled in the fast ring last week, to those who are getting updates via the slow channel, so the latest technical preview build is now available to all members of the Windows Insider program.

Right now, Microsoft is providing two different rings for users who registered to download and install the Windows 10 Technical Preview on their computers, namely fast and slow, each with its very own downsides and strong points.

For instance, if you do want to get Windows 10 updates quicker, the fast ring is the one for you, but it's worth noting that, in some cases, these builds come with more bugs and some issues that might or might not have an impact on system performance or the overall experience with the OS.

On the other hand, the slow channel is created for those who prefer to stay on the safe side and don't want to mess around with bugs or things like that. Issues could still be part of this release, but in most of the cases, Microsoft fixes the top bugs before pushing Windows 10 builds to the slow ring, which usually happens one week or two after the initial release to fast users.

What's new for the slow ring

This time, Microsoft indeed fixed some of the top bugs found in Windows 10 build 10041, including one that was causing full transparency for the Start screen and the Task view. At the same time, Microsoft says that it also addressed a problem causing Lync meetings to work unexpectedly when sharing a desktop, as well as a security bug that was found in the original build.

Just like all the other patches that are available for Windows right now, today's release is shipped via the built-in Windows update system, so you won't have to download anything else than the provided updates.

A reboot won't be required for fast users who are already running build 10041, while slow ring users would obviously have to restart their computers to install the new TP version.
