Microsoft has just released its popular and useful Office Lens app that comes preinstalled with the Windows Phone operating system on the iOS and Android platforms. The application is a pocket scanner that can immediately transform your smartphone or phablet device into a portable document scanner.

Office Lens has been used by numerous Windows Phone users for some time now, and the fact that Microsoft decided to port to the iOS and Android mobile operating system is a really good thing, despite the fact that some really great pocket scanners apps exist at the moment in both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store.

“Office Lens is like having a scanner in your pocket. Like magic, it will digitalize notes on whiteboards or blackboards. Always find important documents or business cards. Sketch your ideas and snap a picture for later. Don't lose receipts or stray sticky notes again!” was stated on the App Store’s description of the application.

The many great features of the Office Lens application

Highlights of Office Lens for iOS includes a Whiteboard mode where the application can trim and clean up shadow and glare, a Document mode where users can trim and color images, support for saving scans to you favorite cloud storage service, including OneDrive, support for saving the images to OneNote, and support for converting them to the .docx, .pptx, or .pdf file formats.

This is the first ever version of the Office Lens app for iOS and it has been optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones.
