The company fixes bug preventing flyouts from opening

Microsoft has just released a new update for Windows 10 build 10130 that corrects a widespread bug preventing flyouts from launching on PCs running this latest version of the preview.

In a post today, Microsoft acknowledges the issue and says that it’s mandatory for users to install this update if they had problems with the flyouts on their desktops, including Start, Cortana, Network, Battery, and Action Center.

The company says that this patch is only aimed at x86-based versions of the Windows 10 preview, so in case you’re running the x64 flavor and you came across this bug, you need to wait a little bit longer to get a patch.

As usual, this new bug fix is available via Windows Update, so if you’re running Windows 10 build 10130 right now, you’d better check for new updates and install all the available ones right away.

New build coming this week?

Windows 10 will make its public debut on July 29, but until then, Microsoft will release another preview build that will allow insiders to test the operating system before its final launch.

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, previously hinted that Windows 10 build 10136 could be the one to be released next, but information coming from unofficial sources indicates that build 10138 could actually be the very last build before RTM.

Obviously, with the final version of Windows 10 almost here, everyone’s wondering when RTM will actually happen, as Microsoft will then sign off the operating system and make no changes before the public launch.

The Windows Insider program, however, will live on, and users can opt whether to continue receiving new builds, or stick to the RTM version of the operating system. The very first Windows 10 update is expected later this year, and Microsoft wants to develop it with help from insiders, just as it has been doing with the core version of the operating system.
