New update shipped to users running the latest build

Microsoft has just rolled out a big update for users of Windows 10 build 9926, thus trying to fix some of the widespread issues that have already been confirmed in this particular release.

The full change log, which you can find in the box after the jump, includes fixes for the Start menu, which reportedly fails to launch on plenty of computers after install, but also for Internet Explorer, as many users have revealed that opening a new tab takes a while no matter how fast their devices actually are.

As expected, this update does not bring any new features for Windows Insiders, as it’s exclusively focused on fixing bugs and issues that were found in the build released by Microsoft in late January.

Increased battery life and fewer system crashes

According to Microsoft’s release notes, the new update also corrects some bugs that were dramatically affecting battery life, so in case you deployed the Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9926 on a laptop or tablet, this patch should significantly improve the autonomy of your device.

At the same time, fewer system crashes should now be experienced after the update, Microsoft says, as the release includes “reliability improvements for virtual machine live migrations, to prevent some system crashes, and to prevent possible data corruption.”

Needless to say, this is an update that all users running Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9926 should perform as soon as possible, especially because it brings so many improvements that can fix bugs and other issues in the operating system that were said to affect quite a lot of devices.

Obviously, the patch is being delivered via Windows Update, so you won’t have to do anything else than hit the install button once everything is downloaded on your computer.

Just make sure that you save your work before anything else because a system reboot is required after install.
