Halo: Spartan Assault has recently arrived on Windows 8, but given the fact that no trial version was offered, users had no other option than to purchase a full license to play it.

Now Microsoft decided to release the so-called Halo: Spartan Assault Lite to give users the chance to try out the game at absolutely no price. It comprises the first of the 30 missions available in the full game and lets you have a glimpse into what you might be getting if you decided to buy Halo.

“Halo: Spartan Assault Lite launches you straight onto the battlefield during the opening battle of the full Halo: Spartan Assault campaign and provides an exciting introduction to the gameplay and story of the full version of Halo: Spartan Assault,” the app description states.

Of course, the game can be installed on both Windows 8 and Windows RT, so you can also play it on Surface RT tablets.
