Back in early January, Microsoft finally made the Office preview for Android tablets openly available for most owners of Android slates.
But this week Microsoft comes back and unleashes the final tablet version for Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
To be able to install the Office suit on your Android tab, you’ll need your device to run Android 4.4 KitKat or later, which is supported by an ARM processor fitted with up to 1GB of RAM. Microsoft Office for Android Tablets is compatible with slates with 7-inch or larger screens.
You’ll need to register for a Microsoft account if you want be able do to anything with these apps. Without one you won’t be allowed to edit, save and print your works, which makes them pretty useless.
Furthermore, you won’t be able to use these applications on a device that has a screen larger than 10.1-inch because an Office 365 subscription will be demanded of you.
We took a brief look at the apps and we can say the final versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are quite similar to the desktop version, which is very good news.
Most important features seem to be there, but with time and more testing some differences will probably be revealed.
However, we have to point out that Microsoft ties their Office applications with Office 365, which requires you to pay some doe for extra features. Anyway, take a look at the gallery to see what the new apps look like. We used a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to check out the apps.
