Video game publisher Microsoft has registered domain names linked to the possible 7th, 8th and 9th installments in the Halo series of video games, which means that the company is already thinking about what to do with the intellectual property after developer 343 Industries creates the Forerunner trilogy.

The sites registered by Microsoft include: Halo7.net, Halo7.org, Halo8.org, Halo9.net, and Halo9.org.

At the moment, 343 Industries, a new studio created from the ground up by Microsoft with the help of some ex-staff from Bungie, is working on Halo 4, which will see Master Chief and his A.I. companion Cortana fight against an ancient Forerunner and his Promethean servants.

Microsoft might also be thinking about introducing a parallel Halo series, featuring another core character, but it’s not clear whether the company wants to flood the marketplace with more installments of its flagship franchise.

Halo 4 will be offered exclusively on the Xbox 360 on the November 13.
