The company is working on a major overhaul of some new products

Windows 8 has been dubbed as a major overhaul of the world’s popular platform from the very beginning, but the company has worked out a much more ambitious plan.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone design studio general manager Albert Shum and creative director at Wolff Olins Todd Simmons revealed some of the tech giant’s plans during an event held in Norway, confirming that the rebranding process will continue across the company’s product range.

Back in October when Windows 8 official got to see daylight, it was introduced as a “reinvented” operating system supposed to change the way users work on their computers.

It turns out that reimagining Windows was actually only the beginning of a larger rebranding process that would spawn new versions of Skype, Xbox and Bing.

“Bing, Skype, Yammer, Xbox, everything is under development as well,” the duo confirmed in this clip. “We also knew we wouldn’t be able to change a single thing if we weren’t able to change Windows.”

As you can see for yourselves in the video, Bing is expected to get a completely new logo, one that looks like some kind of paper airplane, most likely in an attempt to suggest that Microsoft’s search engine is both fast and effective.

Of course, the whole rebranding process is not only ambitious, but also pretty risky for tech giant Microsoft. Users would have to adapt to some major changes, some of which might not be received well.

Windows 8 is already facing an avalanche of criticism, most of which is caused by this rebranding strategy that’s apparently costing Microsoft millions of dollars.

Some customers prefer to stay away from the company’s new operating system, especially because of the design changes it brings, so the same negative feedback might quickly spread over some other products as well.
