After the statement made by Richard Parsons, CEO at Time Warner, that AOL was not for sale, it seemed the transaction madness had stopped.
However, Microsoft appears to be determined to sign a deal between MSN and AOL. Citing sources close to the business, Wall Street Journal has found out that talks regarding a potential
merger between the two services have been resumed.
Recently, AOL has been making serious efforts to catch up with Google, Yahoo and MSN, and for Microsoft the alliance with AOL would mean more content and several types of services.
Immediately after the information on a possible alliance between the two portals appeared, analysts said that Google might also be interested in AOL.
AOL is facing a decrease in the revenues obtained from dial-up type connections and that is why the company is trying to compensate by generating more traffic on its sites. Yesterday, AOL acquired 85 blogs belonging to Weblogs Inc.
As WSJ informs, if the transaction doesn't take place by the end of this year, the idea will most likely be abandoned.
