New Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 version has been spotted

Microsoft is expected to announce the next version of Windows Phone in about three weeks, but rumors on the so-called Threshold continue to emerge.

Whether or not Microsoft decides to unify its Windows Phone and Windows RT OSes and refer to them as one distinct name, it remains to be seen.

Anyway, those who currently own Windows Phone handsets and still await for 8.1 Update 1 to arrive on their devices should rest easy, as Microsoft seems to have lots of bug fixes, tweaks and new features to add to the OS.

A new Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 version recently appeared at WPBench. The new OS version 8.10.14234.0 is newer than the current 8.10.14157.200 version that's being delivered to Windows Phone units.

The problem is we’re not sure whether or not this version of the OS will be rolled out en masse to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 devices.

Microsoft previously released a small update to the current version of Windows Phone, but no changelog that could have shed some light on the improvements was included.

The next major update for Windows Phone is expected to arrive sometime in October. However, we expect more details on the so-called GDR2 update to be shared later this month, when Microsoft is expected to unveiled Windows 9, or whatever the name.

Did you receive the new Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 version 8.10.14234.0 on your smartphone yet? Have you noticed any minor or major changes after applying the update?
