The issue affects dial-up scripting connections

Microsoft has recently announced that it will re-issue completely the critical patch 911280 (MS06-025) that aimed to fix a Windows Routing and Remote Access vulnerability. Although the security update did repair the vulnerability that otherwise could allow for Remote Code Execution, it also interfered with dial-up connections, rendering them inoperable.

"An issue has been confirmed that involves dial-up connections that use a terminal window, or dial-up scripting. This is an older technology that is rarely used by modern dial-up connections. If dial-up scripting is used in a connection, the connection may stop responding. This behavior does not affect any dial-up connections that do not use dial-up scripting. This issue may affect direct-dial connections to a corporate network, to a university network, or to some ISPs (Internet service providers)", Microsoft said in message addressing the issue on its web site.

The Redmond company has confirmed that it's working on revising patch 911280 (MS06-025) but has not announced a release date. For now, Microsoft recommends to those that use dial-up scripting connections to stay away of the update until its final form is released.
