Developers seem to have identified the issues and are preparing a fix

The WhatsApp for Windows Phone saga is about to end, hopefully, as Microsoft's Joe Belfiore claims the application is about to get released in the app store once again.

It's been more than two weeks since WhatsApp Messenger was removed from Windows Phone Store due to some notification issues.

Unfortunately, developers did not warn Windows Phone users they would temporarily remove the application from the store, so many were left without their favorite method of communication with friends and families.

We reported earlier this week, there wasn't been a single statement issued by WhatsApp developers since the application was pulled from Windows Phone Store.

The only piece of information on what's happening was provided by the same Joe Belfiore, who said last week the issues were in the Windows Phone 8, which is why the application was removed from the store.

In fact, it's unclear why WhatsApp decided to pull the application entirely from the Windows Phone Store instead of working on a fix and deliver it via update.

WhatsApp for Windows Phone hasn't been updated in months, which is why we believe users could have lived a few more weeks with the notification issues affecting their smartphones.

But the worst part is the fact that there was no statement coming from either party, aside from the comments in the last couple of days that didn't really explain what's going on.

Since Joe Belfiore confirmed Microsoft was working directly with WhatsApp engineers to get the application fixed, we thought the application would be back in Windows Phone Store in a couple of days.

However, it looks like the problem is more serious than we anticipated, which is probably one of the reasons WhatsApp is still missing from Windows Phone Store.

Well, that is about to change, as Belfiore is back with yet another tweet that teases the release of WhatsApp in Windows Phone Store once again. Here is his short statement:

“Sorry for being quiet about WhatsApp. We've worked with them to get a fix built and expect it to be back QUITE SOON.”

There's not telling how soon is “quite soon,” but if developers have been able to create a fix for the notifications issue, then it should take too long for WhatsApp to appears on Windows Phone Store.

Here is hoping that will happen sooner rather than later. We will keep an eye out for any additional info on the matter, so stay tuned.

Update 1: It looks like it didn't take too long for WhatsApp to release the application in Windows Phone Store after Joe Belfiore's short statement. Windows Phone fans, you can now download WhatsApp Messenger from the store once again.
