During the PC Gaming press event at E3 2015, Microsoft Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that the corporation wanted to do more for PC users, especially with the Windows 10 operating system. As further testimony, he confirmed that the recent Killer Instinct fighting game would come to PC and has cross-platform play with Xbox One.

For quite a few years, Microsoft's Xbox division has focused, as its name suggests, on console gaming, through the original Xbox, the Xbox 360, or the Xbox One. While Microsoft also made the most popular operating system for PC gamers, in the form of the Windows ones, its support of this movement was lackluster to say the least.

Windows 10 brings a bigger commitment to PC gaming from Microsoft

However, at the E3 2015 PC Gaming show, Microsoft's Phil Spencer went on stage to admit that the corporation lost its way with PC users in the past, but with Windows 10, it wants to bring plenty of great things.

"I wanted to have the opportunity to come here, because there have been times in our past where Microsoft has maybe lost our way with PC gaming. But what people have done on PC is critical to our success, and critical to Windows’ success. So it’s great to get the opportunity to come here and talk directly to the fans and the press," he explains, via the Windows blog.

Killer Instinct is coming to PC with cross-platform play

Spencer also took the chance to confirm that Killer Instinct, the recent free-to-play fighting game for Xbox One, would come to the PC, complete with cross-platform play. No exact release date was given, but you can bet that more details will be shared at a later point in time.

Another confirmation was Gears of War Ultimate Edition, which brings to the PC a few more features than on the Xbox One. Its launch is confirmed for August 25, worldwide.
