Even though at first it was only a temporary retail location opened by Microsoft to support the Windows 8 and Surface RT launch, the company’s store in the SouthPark mall in Charlotte will continue to be part of the network currently operated by the Redmond-based technology giant, thanks to its success.

A report published by the Charlotte Business Journal and citing a Microsoft statement reveals that the software vendor is very pleased with the overall sales of the store, so it will turn it into a permanent location.

“Based on the success of the SouthPark mall Microsoft Specialty Store, the store will remain open in 2013 and continue to provide consumers with the same choice, value and services they have come to expect,” a company spokesman was quoted as saying.

Just as usual, the store will be used to provide access to the company’s latest products, including Windows 8, the Surface tablet and Office 365.
