Microsoft might be planning to merge the Windows Phone and Windows Developer accounts in an attempt to bring closer its two platforms and bring more apps on its operating systems.

According to Chinese website WPDang, Microsoft could offer a unique developer account for as much as $19 (€15) per year.

The move would be clearly aimed at bringing the Windows Phone Store and the Windows Store closer, as the company is rumored to be planning a merger aimed at offering a seamless experience across all types of devices running Windows.

Previous reports indicated that Microsoft would plan this merger for early 2014 through the Spring GDR update prepared for Windows 8.1, or sometime next year as the company continues work on Windows 9.

There’s no confirmation on this report at this point, so take everything with a grain of salt until someone from Microsoft offers a public statement.
