It turns out that Redmond is slowing down development of the Surface notebook

Last month, several reports regarding Microsoft’s future Surface projects hinted that Redmond might also launch a larger device that would compete in the notebook market, thus giving the company a chance to steal more users from the hardware industry.

Now MSFTNerd, who’s already known for leaking information about Microsoft’s future projects, claims that plans to launch a Surface notebook are on hold, which means that Redmond most likely prefers to focus on tablets.

This year, for example, Microsoft is expected to launch a new Surface 3 tablet, as well as Surface Mini and LTE versions of Surface 2 that would provide buyers with on-the-go Internet connectivity.

As usual, Microsoft hasn’t commented on these rumors, but it’s well known that the company struggles to expand its hardware product family, so several new devices are very likely to be launched in the next couple of years.
