Detroit, the home of General Motors, Chrysler and Ford, could soon get its first Microsoft store, as the Redmond-based technology giant is looking into ways to expand its retail network.

According to Crain’s Detroit Business, Microsoft has already posted a job opening for a “store leader” for an unknown location in the Motor City, so the company is probably planning to open the store in mid-2013.

Microsoft has recently confirmed that it would soon open retail stores in a number of new locations across the United States, including Miami, San Francisco, San Antonio and Salt Lake City.

In addition, sources familiar with the matter have hinted that Microsoft wanted to expand its network in Europe, with several locations in the United Kingdom rumored to be considered for the company’s first stores on the Old Continent.
