The money plus a little extra

As some of you might remember, at the middle of February, the Xbox Live Deal of the Week program started once more, after the first attempt at creating promotions on the Xbox Live Marketplace had a great success in the holiday season.

The first game to receive a discount at the end of this winter was independently developed puzzler Braid, which saw its price decrease from 1200 MS points to a very affordable 800, thus making quite a lot of people who postponed buying this title acquire it immediately.

But after making the purchase, quite a lot of users observed that, from their online MS Points account, 1200 points were missing instead of the advertised 800. This generated quite a bit of user backlash, and, slowly but surely, the team at Xbox Live has worked hard to solve this problem.

Now, Microsoft has sent out an email to all of the gamers who paid too much, in which it says that it will refund the 400 points and, as a token of appreciation, will add another 100 points. But don't get your hopes high just yet, as the letter explains that the amount of virtual money will appear in the following weeks.

“As a result of the increased transactions we know that you experienced an intermittent Xbox LIVE issue, which resulted in you being charged full price of 1200 points for the ‘Braid' deal instead of the discounted price of 800 points. We sincerely wish to apologize for the technical glitch and would like to take this moment to thank you for your patience and understanding as our team worked around the clock to fix this problem. We will not only be crediting back the 400 points that were overcharged, but also be crediting an extra 100 points as a token of our appreciation and as a thank you for your loyalty during this period. You will see a credit of 500 points in your account in the coming weeks.”

At least this means that people haven't been scammed out of their hard-earned virtual money. Hopefully, those weeks will come sooner and they will have more points to spend on other pieces of DLC or arcade titles.
