Just ahead of the holiday season, Microsoft is applauding the benefits users will enjoy by coupling its LifeCams with the next iteration of Windows Live Messenger. The Redmond company has revealed that Windows Live Messenger 9.0 (2009) is capable of higher-quality video call than version 8.5, its precursor, delivering superior quality full-screen VGA video, provided that the right hardware is used. LifeCam Show and LifeCam VX-5500 are two items from Microsoft's LifeCam line-up that will ensure high-quality video communications via Windows Live Messenger 9.0.
“Windows Live Messenger enables our customers to experience a stunning high-quality video call,” revealed Dharmesh Mehta, group product manager for Windows Live at Microsoft. “These updates paired with the Microsoft LifeCams are a meaningful way for friends and families to stay in touch during the holidays and all through the year.”
According to Microsoft, version 9.0 of Windows Live Messenger has been optimized in order to deliver up to four times better VGA (640x480) video resolution in full screen mode compared with version 8.5. LifeCam Show comes with a price tag of $99.95, while LifeCam VX-5500 is available for $59.95. Microsoft has already started rolling out
Windows Live Wave 3, with Windows Live Messenger 9.0 (2009) slated for general availability in the coming weeks.
