umm...
Mac OS is like Free BSD but costs money.
Linux owns cause it's free, lots of distributions, very secure and has real tech support. Not to mention it doesn't matter if it's a PC or a Mac, it will install on it.
Microsoft Owns the OS market but they have for years and years and Mac is greatly increasing in popularity (Linux is as well)
After working with the 3 OS's I made 1 conclusion. Windows for Gaming, Linux for everything else (and currently working on gaming to make the ultimate switch for myself.)
Note: After working with Vista since it's release, it is the second worst OS I have worked with. First place would be Windows ME. The reason? Compatibility, their "security" (vista has less security than XP), UAC (I hate being asked more than once if I want to do something), it's a hardware resource hog, and DirectX 10 is a waste of resources as well, especially since the comparison between it and 9.0c is lighting (you can hardly tell a difference unless you are seriously trying to find a difference between the two). Nvidia has been kind enough to try and help the gaming world of DirectX be tricked into using OpenGL (Linux graphics) via Wine and Cedega, both of which have so far shown me how much better graphics and smoother frame rates can be on OpenGL versus DirectX. |
