In a
technical note posted on the Support section of Apple.com, the Cupertino-based company reveals that a new version of the MobileMe Control Panel for Windows is now available for download.
The update, released as a free download for anyone using MobileMe on a Windows machine, “fixes issues and improves reliability for the new MobileMe Calendar in Outlook,” according to the Mac maker.
A tool required to manage iDisk settings and for syncing of contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Windows PC, MobileMe Control Panel is now at version 1.6.6 and weighs in at 5.98 MB.
System requirements include: Windows XP Home or Professional SP3,Windows Vista SP1 or later, or Windows 7; Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007 or 2010 (32-bit) for calendar sync; a MobileMe Account; and iTunes 9.2 or later.

Urged to upgrade to the new Calendar backend as the app will stop using Apple’s Sync Services beginning May 5, users using the new web app are still unable to sync their calendars with Outlook for Mac.
Apple is widely believed to plan a second major transition for users of its cloud-centric service, after transforming .Mac (pronounced dot Mac) into MobileMe in 2008. At the time, all existing .Mac members were migrated to MobileMe automatically.
