Microsoft’s outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer and Christian P. Illek, chairman of Microsoft Germany’s managing board, opened a new facility in Berlin supposed to help the Redmond-based tech giant get close to customers, business partners, startups, and media.

The 3,000 m² facility has its own consumer language and a meeting room that’s large enough for up to 400 guests. Offices for Microsoft staff and a whole floor for private meetings with entrepreneurs are also part of the new building.

“Right now, we are incredibly passionate about delivering the next generation of high value activities through devices and services that people love and organizations need all over the world. The Microsoft Berlin Innovation Center provides a unique environment to foster innovation, forge new partnerships with entrepreneurs and exchange ideas with our customers,” Ballmer explained.

This is Ballmer’s second meeting of the week on the Old Continent, as Microsoft’s CEO has recently met with Serbian authorities to discuss on the possibility of making the country a large technology hub in the area.
