Microsoft has just announced that it had signed a deal with Tmall, a shopping site owned by Alibaba Group, to sell its products online to Chinese users, including Surface, smartphones and other products.

The new store will get more than 50 products in the coming weeks, as Microsoft plans to also sell software products, hardware and accessories to local users.

“Microsoft sees great potential in China’s e-commerce market, to offer customers across the country choice, value and service through our online store. Through our joint efforts with Tmall.com, customers have a trusted and secured shopping experience of Microsoft and other complementary products such as Surface, Office, Windows PCs, Windows Phones, and accessories,” said Kevin Eagan, VP, E-commerce of Microsoft Retail Stores.

The store is operated by a Microsoft team established in China and will also roll out promotional campaigns in the coming weeks, as well as pre-order campaigns for newly launched products.
