The company is trying to offer cities easy access to Microsoft products

Microsoft has just revealed what it calls the CityNext project, a brand new initiative aimed at cities across the world supposed to provide authorities with easy access to the company’s products.

The software maker has already joined forces with a number of cities across the world, including Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Hamburg, Manchester, Moscow, and Zhengzhou.

“With Microsoft’s software, device and services platform, cities can deliver personalized services and apps with a people-centric approach, enable real-time dialogue via social media, and spur app development and economic growth with open data initiatives, resulting in better-served and engaged constituents,” the company said in a press release.

Microsoft claims that its software can connect and transform lots of city functions, such as energy and water, transportation, education, health and social services, public safety and justice, tourism, recreation, and culture.
