Last week, Microsoft announced that it had kicked off the rollout of Nokia XL in APAC and IMEA regions, but did not specify when and where exactly the smartphone would arrive in the coming days.

Well, it looks like this information will be provided via a local event that will be announced for each country in the next couple of days.

We have already reported on the Nokia XL availability in India, as fans of the Finnish company have been able to purchase the smartphone for several days via multiple retailers across the country for only Rs 11,049 outright, which is about $185 or €135.

Today, AndroidOS reports that Microsoft has officially introduced the Nokia XL and X+ in India, even though the former has already been available for purchase since last week.

The Redmond-based company has also confirmed that the Nokia X+ will be available for purchase in India in the next couple of days for only Rs 8,399 ($145 / €105) off contract. Some retailers may offer better deals on the smartphone, but until it goes on sale, we can’t confirm that.

Microsoft has also announced a partnership with Indian carrier Airtel, so each customer who purchases either of the two Nokia X family smartphones will also receive 500MB of free data, which can be used to download apps and games via Nokia Store and 1Mobile.

We have already talked about the Nokia XL that is now up for sale in India, so let’s see what the X+ has to offer. First of all, the Nokia X+ ships with the same Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which has been customized to offer HERE services and apps instead of Google suite.

In addition, the smartphone comes with a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features Nokia Fastlane UI.

On the inside, the Nokia X+ is equipped with a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play, an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

The handset also packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1500 mAh battery.

“With the Nokia X Family, we look to offer a variety of choices to our consumers at different price points. After receiving a great response with the Nokia X, which introduced the category to this market, we are now bringing the much awaited Nokia XL and X+ to our consumers,” said Nokia India Director of Sales, Raghuvesh Sarup.
