Although Apple didn't announce as much as rumored at Macworld (remember the iWorks '07 or 8-core Mac Pro rumors?), the iPhone is here and the Macs are selling better than ever. No matter what will happen with the name of their phone and how the problem will be settled with Cisco, the base of applications available for Mac keeps growing and improving each day, and you don't have to be Nostradamus to figure out that the amount of money ready for the taking offered by the Mac software market is also growing...

Did I say "money"? Well, where the money is, you can be sure to find Microsoft, and this is not said with an evil touch, it's just a reality. Two days ago, Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit (Mac BU) announced that Office 2008 for Mac will be ready for shipment in the second half of this year - as a Universal Binary, of course.

As expected, the graphics engine is shared with the last Office for Windows version, and Office 2008 for Mac will feature a new user interface and some additional tools - Office Art 2.0, Document Parts, as well as some Mac-only features (a publishing layout view with support for layout-rich documents, ledger sheets for handling common financial management tasks and more).

On the other hand, the present day couldn't have been forgotten by Microsoft, and so they released Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.3 Update the same day. According to the company, this update comes with "several improvements to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code. In addition, this update includes all of the improvements released in all previous Office 2004 updates", so hurry up and update your version as soon as possible!
