14 DAY TRIAL // Every month, Microsoft releases a pack of updates that is meant to patch all the security flaws and vulnerabilities discovered in the products developed by the company. Every time the software giant publishes the security bulletins, it also releases an advisory to describe all the updates as well as the installation methods and other useful information that concerns the patches. "As part of the monthly security bulletin release cycle, Microsoft provides advance notification to customers about the number of new security updates being released, the software affected, severity, and information about detection tools relevant to the updates. This is intended to help our customers plan for the deployment of these security updates more effectively," is the introduction used for every notification.
This month, the security bulletin alert is a little different because it contains a statement rarely used by the software giant. "No new Microsoft Security Bulletins will be released on March 13, 2007," the notification sustains. So, what does it mean? Microsoft's products are no longer affected by security flaws and vulnerabilities? I don't think so, maybe the software giant tries to say there are no unpatched security issues or the ones recently discovered will be fixed soon.
Although there are no Windows updates this month, the company will improve the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool with a tiny patch. "Microsoft will release an updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services and the Download Center," the advisory sustains.
So, what should we say when Microsoft sustains there are no updates (vulnerabilities) in the Windows products? Well, maybe it's the pure reality and Vista is really the most secure and the safest version of the operating system developed by the software giant.
