The policy might also be changed for the future Xbox One

Microsoft, the creator of the Xbox 360, is no longer charging developers in order to allow them to launch title updates for their games on its home console.

The information comes from multiple sources that have spoken to Eurogamer, and it seems that the new policy has a number of caveats and Microsoft is reserving the right to ask for money from teams who deliver too many updates in a short interval.

The policy shift is important because it might hint at how Microsoft approaches title updates for the coming Xbox One.

Many developers, especially in the indie space, have complained that the company is not creating a good environment for them.

Microsoft is also rumored to be ready to announce that indie companies will be able to self-publish on the Xbox One.
