Microsoft is indeed working to bring more high-quality apps on Windows 8, but when the company revealed a few new live tiles at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2014 in Washington, everyone was pretty surprised.

Microsoft's marketing executive Tony Prophet took the stage at WPC to discuss about the company's app momentum in the Windows Store, showing a Start screen full of apps, including some of which we've never heard they existed on Windows 8.

WhatsApp, Spotify, WeChat, and Pandora apps have all been included in Prophet's demonstration, and Microsoft's executive has even highlighted them when talking about the high-quality apps that are now available on Windows 8.

That's nice, only that they are not available on Windows 8, and Prophet most likely was a bit confused and thought he was talking about Windows Phone, Microsoft's platform where all these apps are already offered to users.

It was all just a mistake from Microsoft, WhatsApp business head Neeraj Arora confirmed, but Microsoft is yet to release a comment on this and explain the confusion.

In fact, WhatsApp executives themselves emphasize that the company wants to remain a mobile-only service provider, so do not expect the famous app to arrive on tablets or desktops anytime soon.
