Lumia 535 running Android 4.3 shown on Microsoft store page

Earlier today, our resident mobile expert Cosmin Vasile told you about an odd mistake that Google recently made when it posted an image of a Nexus 6 running Windows Phone on its website, and there’s no doubt that everyone at Microsoft is laughing their heads off.

And yet, Microsoft apparently crashed its own party because it turns out that Redmond made a similar mistake on the official Microsoft Store webpage, where it tries to entice visitors to buy a Lumia 535.

As spotted by PhoneArena, one of the photos posted on this page shows Lumia 535 running not only the Android version of Vine but Android itself, which is a pretty big mistake for a company that’s trying to become more relevant in the mobile world (and consequently, to compete against Android).

Android on a Lumia? Don’t get your hopes too high on this

If you look at this photo really closely, you can see the Vine app running on a Lumia 535, and that’s quite alright, given the fact that Vine already exists on Windows Phone and many people are using it.

But in this picture, Microsoft used the Android version of Vine to promote the Lumia 535, which at some level, is fine again because, you know, in Windows 10 Mobile Android apps can be ported to Microsoft’s own platform with little tweaks.

But the biggest problem is that it’s not only Vine for Android but the full version of Android, as you can see from the bar at the top of the screen, where the blue clock theme shows that Microsoft most likely used a screenshot with Android 4.3 for this ad.

Expect this photo to be removed anytime soon, and there’s no doubt that someone at Microsoft won’t have a good sleep in the next few nights after such a mistake.
