Phil Spencer, the vice president of the Microsoft Game Studios, says that the Xbox One version of indie hit Minecraft is currently close to being ready for release and that more information will soon be offered by developer 4J Studios.

The executive tells IGN that, "I talked to 4J Studios last night. They feel really good about the progress that they’re making. It’s their game, and it’d be Mojang’s game. We graciously host it on our platform."

The quality of the game is great and Markus Persson, aka Notch, the original creator of Minecraft is doing a few final tweaks before deciding on an official launch date.

The game will probably be supported in the long term with regular updates by the development team but it's unclear whether on launch the title will introduce any mechanics that's exclusive to the Microsoft next gen home console.

Recently Notch has announced that it was canceling a version of Minecraft for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset after it was acquired by Facebook.

The indie hit has been a success on all platforms on which it was launched so far and might be a good way to attract more players to the Xbox One, which is lagging behind the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales.
