14 DAY TRIAL // The boot-to-desktop option that’s being offered to Windows 8.1 users right now could receive an update in the coming update for the operating system as Microsoft is reportedly pondering an important change for OEMs.
The Verge is reporting via unnamed sources that boot-to-desktop could be enabled by default on devices sold by specific partners, but it appears that no decision has been made until now.
In Windows 8.1, the boot-to-desktop option was disabled by default but users were allowed to turn it on and skip the Start screen and get straight to the desktop when starting their computers.
Some early leaks of Windows 8.1 Update 1 have reportedly been shipped with the option enabled by default, but it turns out that it all happened due to some sort of bug. A leaked ISO that reached the web last week, however, didn’t have the option turned on.
