Microsoft has worked to make its Malware Protection Center portal available to users worldwide in their native language. MMPC’s Ronit Reger announced that the portal for the company’s anti-malware focused efforts can be leveraged in no less than 35 languages following the introduction of an enhancement involving the software giant’s machine translation technology.

Visitors landing on the Microsoft Malware Protection Center portal are now able to benefit from an automatic translations feature that has been added to the website as of this week.

“Take a look at [the MMPC portal], scroll down to the bottom of the page, and translate to the language of your choice,” Reger said.

Users need to understand that the content on the MMPC portal has not been localized for the 35 languages supported by Bing Translator.

Instead, the Redmond company is simply employing the machine translation technology in order to automatically translate the materials shared with the public through the portal.

In this regard, users are bound to notice that the quality of the translations will not be exactly top notch. Still, the integration of Microsoft’s machine translation technology is bound to make it easier for people around the world to take advantage of the information shared by the software giant through the MMPC portal, especially if they don’t speak English.

“These translations are completely automatic, and are using Microsoft Bing technology. This technology is considered state of the art in machine translation, and the quality is undergoing constant improvements,” Reger explained.

“When applying the translation, the original text can be viewed by hovering over a particular phrase or sentence. 35 languages are currently supported on the MMPC Portal site. We’re excited to have this opportunity to expose the portal content to our broad base of international users!”

The new automatic translations feature added to the MMPC portal is offered through the Microsoft Translator widget, which website developers can integrate free of charge into their sites.
