Microsoft has started the Patch Tuesday rollout with a new version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool, a security app that’s supposed to lend a hand to users trying to get rid of specific malware infections.

While no release notes are available at this point, since the Patch Tuesday updates are yet to see daylight, version 5.6 most likely comes with detection and removal capabilities for new infections.

Of course, the application still provides support for all Windows versions currently on the market, starting with the aging XP and ending with the newly released Windows 8.1.

Keep in mind, however, that Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool is not a real-time security product and it’s only supposed to help users get rid of some malware infections.

The app only acts as a wizard and guides you throughout the entire scanning and removal process, so if you’re having a hard time trying to clean your computer, download Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool 5.6 right now.
