Microsoft releases a new version of its popular Malicious Software Removal Tool every Patch Tuesday, so an updated build with improved detection capabilities got to see daylight today.

The new 4.19 version is available for download either automatically via the integrated Windows Update service, or separately for most Windows versions.

And, speaking of the supported Windows flavors, Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool works flawlessly on most of them, including the soon-to-be 12-year-old Windows XP, the newly released Windows 8 and the world’s most popular operating system, Windows 7.

While there are no details on this new version, it most likely brings detection and cleaning capabilities for some new forms of malware, as well as stability and performance improvements for Windows users.
