Tech giant Microsoft has just announced a brand new update for its SkyDrive cloud-based storage service that makes it easier for users to upload files to their account.

According to the company’s very own stats, the file uploading process is now two or even three times faster thanks to multiple server code improvements implemented in the last couple of months.

“In the past few months we’ve also been hard at work addressing the feedback we’ve received about how long it sometimes takes to upload via the SkyDrive desktop app. To improve upload times, we worked on changes to both the app and the server code. The end result is that in our internal tests, we’ve seen a 2-3x improvement in upload times for photos,” the company said.

At the same time, Microsoft continues the advertising push for SkyDrive, trying to show everyone that storing files in the cloud is vital in case something goes wrong with their hardware.
