Pulling down the app screen no longer closes the app

In Windows 8, pulling down the UI of a Metro app simply closed it quickly, so users were allowed to easily manage their running programs.

Windows 8.1 Preview, however, makes it a bit more difficult, as the whole process now requires you to hold the window at the bottom of the screen for a second or two before it gets closed.

A Microsoft support engineer explained on the company’s forums the way you should close your apps:

“In Windows 8.1 Preview, to close an app you have to drag the app down the screen and hold it for some time. You will see the app rotates and this will close the app completely,” the message reads.

And still, the closed app will continue to be displayed in Task Manager for about 10 seconds, but no further actions are required.
