Every Windows Phone fan knows by now that Microsoft plans to launch two new flagship smartphones later this year. For the time being, they are called Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, but Microsoft may decide to launch them under different names.

Both smartphones have been “confirmed” by the rumor mill as Cityman and Talkman, but these are just codenames used internally.

Anyway, we reported yesterday about the alleged specs of these flagships, but in the meantime new info has leaked that could shed more light on what they might looks like.

We have also learned that both Lumia smartphones will have some of the newest technologies available on the market, which few devices integrate now.

According to a new report, Microsoft's new flagship smartphones will look very much like the Lumia 830 in terms of design. The Redmond-based company must have thought that this is the right approach, but that might change in the coming months.

Another piece of information coming from the same source suggests that Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL will feature a polycarbonate body with aluminum frames.

USB Type-C might be a prerequisite for Continuum for Phones

And now we're getting to the juicy part. It looks like Microsoft will include USB Type-C ports in both Lumia smartphones. Apparently, that might be a prerequisite for Continuum for Phones, but the reasons aren't that important as the fact that they will come with USB Type-C.

Another new piece of technology that will be included in both flagship smartphones is the iris scanner, which will allow owners to unlock the devices via eye contact.

Keep in mind that while this information has been confirmed from multiple sources, Microsoft might make some changes by the time they are officially announced.

Microsoft Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL are expected to go on sale sometime in October / November, and they will be powered by the upcoming Windows 10 Mobile operating system.
