Microsoft is really busy these days to refresh its Lumia lineup with models wearing its badge, so the company is now working on several new devices that could be unveiled in the coming months.

One of these developing phones is Lumia 940, successor to Lumia 930 and a device that would excel in terms of hardware capabilities, as we can all see in a leaked specs sheet published by PhoneArena.

Nothing is confirmed until now, so nobody can tell for sure if these specifications are accurate or not, but it turns out that the Lumia 940 is going to be a powerhorse with top-notch specs and next-generation software.

Gorilla Glass 4 and Windows Phone 10

Microsoft Lumia 940 is expected to come with Windows Phone 10, which could be an indication that Redmond might actually push its launch to mid-2015. Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10 are both expected in spring 2015, so the very first devices running them would only arrive after that.

At the same time, the leaked specs sheet indicates that Lumia 940 could come with a 5-inch 1080p display featuring Gorilla Glass 4. Again, since this particular display type is not yet available, the official debut of the phone might only take place late next year.

Other specifications include a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, which would obviously make it quite a fast and powerful smartphone (the 930 comes with a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Snapdragon chip).

As far as dimensions are concerned, the Lumia 940 will be very similar to its predecessor and will be only 1 millimeters thicker. The leaked spec sheet points to overall dimensions of 137 x 71 x 8.9mm and a weight of 149 grams (the 930 measures 137.0 x 71.0 x 9.8mm and weighs in 167 grams).

Just as expected since we're talking about a flagship, Microsoft will also implement one of its best cameras to make the Lumia 940 a very advanced device when it comes to taking photos on the go.

A 24-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front one are likely to be offered on the Lumia 940 if these specifications are real. What's more, the rear camera is expected to offer 4K recording at 60fps, which is clearly possible only with a very advanced cameras.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Lumia 940 won't be the most affordable Windows Phone on the market and will be at least similar in price with the Lumia 930. At this point, Microsoft's 5-inch flagship model can be yours for approximately $600 (480 euro) without a contract in markets where it's already available.
