We already know that Microsoft plans to launch two flagship smartphones later this year, as soon as Windows 10 for phones gets released.

Since Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would arrive this summer and that smartphone users would have to wait a while longer to get the new OS, we can safely assume that the first high-end devices powered by Windows 10 Mobile won't be available until late fall.

Rumor has it that Microsoft is now working on two high-end smartphones codenamed Cityman and Talkman, which could be released on the market as Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL.

News about these two smartphones leaked several weeks ago, so the fact that we now have the first images emerging online shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The so-called Lumia 940 is the smaller version of Lumia 940 XL and aside from the slightly smaller display, it will also be equipped with a difference chipset.

Hexa-core CPU and Quad HD display

For those out of the loop, Lumia 940 is supposed to ship with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box. The smartphone is said to sport a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

It will also be packed with a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. According to the latest hearsay, Lumia 940 will also feature microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, the smartphone will boast a 20-megapixel photo snapper with triple-LED (triple-tone) flash, autofocus and video recording. In the front, there will be a 5-megapixel secondary camera for video calls and selfies. There's no word on the battery except for the fact that it will be removable.

Although we can't confirm the authenticity of the Lumia 940 picture, there's a high chance that the specs leaked recently do match the final version of the smartphone supposed to arrive later this year.

Update: Sorry folks, but it looks like this is a fake image. It's a crossover between Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 830.
