A report that came out yesterday revealed that Microsoft was considering five different candidates for the CEO position, including Alan Mulally, Stephen Elop, Satya Nadella, and Tony Bates.

Bloomberg, on the other hand, is now reporting that Kevin Turner, Microsoft’s chief operating officer, is also in the race for the CEO seat.

While his chances of taking over from Ballmer are very low, Turner is considered a potential choice for the CEO position because of his experience within the company. Turner joined Microsoft in 2005 after previously working for Wal-Mart for 18 years.

According to the same source, the committee founded to discuss with potential candidates has also interviewed some other internals, including Qi Lu, head of the Bing and Office, and Terry Myerson, chief of the operating systems division.

Analysts believe that Ford’s CEO Alan Mulally is very likely to be appointed the next CEO, with an announcement to be made by the end of the year.
