Following customer feedback related to the uninstalling process of Internet Explorer Beta 2, Microsoft has made
available for download on its Website an utility designed to lend a helping hand to users whose systems have encountered problems while removing the browser. The Redmond Company's Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Uninstall Toolkit is a free application designed to run on Windows XP Service Pack 2.
The utility is only available to customers running a genuine copy of Windows, according to Microsoft, and its download will receive a green light only following Windows validation.
The IE 7 Beta 2 Uninstall Toolkit comes to deliver an alternative removal method for the browser. It has proven necessary as the IE default uninstall method makes use of the original files and the registry keys of the browsers. Microsoft informs that in the eventuality that these files have been deleted, users are unable to remove the browser. The Uninstall Toolkit "forces uninstall of Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 using default files and settings. This toolkit will uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 using default files and settings from Microsoft. It is only intended for use if normal uninstallation methods failed," stated the company.
