Microsoft has managed to leak the future version of Windows Live Messenger. The Redmond Company is currently offering Windows Live Messenger (formerly MSN Messenger) version 8.1.0178 but the instant messaging client is a product which suffers continuous evolution. Microsoft is without a doubt already dogfooding the upcoming release of Windows Live Messenger, but the IM client is no longer limited to Microsoft.

Although the company has not breathed a single word pointing to the next version of Windows Live Messenger, the IM client is out and about, judging by reports and screenshots. Still, the availability of the product is restricted to in-house. However, information is not, despite the fact that the Redmond Company has failed to confirm or to deny the validity of the leaked copy of Windows Live Messenger.

The Windows Live Messenger variant leaked is a beta build for the current 8.1 edition. However, upon closer inspection, the product reveals its version which is 8.5, or - to be even more specific - 8.5.1235.0517. A download is not available yet. The sources that did indeed succeed in getting their hands on the new version of Windows Live Messenger have chosen not to share the code.

The internal build of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 leaked by Messenger Addictos can be viewed via a set of images that are hosted by Mess.be. You can access the screenshots for sign in window, Windows Live Messenger 8.5, Sign-in Toast, Conversation Window, New typing indicator (above text input) and About window.

On the first look of Windows Live Messenger 8.5, the biggest overhaul is in the graphical user interface. The IM client's UI is now in accordance with the Windows Vista style and overall design. Additional reports reference an enhanced installer, and a set of new features.

The users have to keep in mind that build 8.5.1235.0517 of Windows Live Messenger is only an alpha built and that, so far, the future beta will be promising once it will be released to the testers.
