14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is only launching affordable Windows Phone handsets lately in its attempt to grab as much market share as possible. Another reason would be the upcoming release of Windows 10, which will power the company's next flagship smartphone.
Since Windows 10 isn't ready yet, it makes sense for Microsoft to delay the launch of any Windows Phone flagship device that would fall short on specs and features when put against other high-end devices running different mobile platforms.
That being said, Windows Phone fans will have to wait at least a few more months until they are offered the option to upgrade to a new flagship smartphone.
But that doesn't mean that Microsoft will stop launching Windows Phone handsets. An unannounced RM-1141 has just been spotted in the Zauba import data, which means that the smartphone might now be tested in India and will probably be released in the not-so-distant future.
As you might have expected, the RM-1141 is a low-end Windows Phone handset, which sports a small 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display.
The smartphone also offers dual-SIM support, but aside from that, there aren't any other details included in the listing. The price tag isn't representative since this is a test unit, but the RM-1141 costs Rs 7,929 ($125 / €120).
Not many details on its specs are available for now
Microsoft has recently launched the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL affordable Windows Phone handsets, which are already available for pre-order in many countries.
Until the next flagship smartphone is announced by Microsoft, we should expect more of these low- to mid-end range Windows Phones to be thrown into the market.
Let's hope that they will differentiate themselves from one another in some way, otherwise they will compete against each other.
