Panos Panay, the man in charge with the Surface division at Microsoft, hast just unveiled the second-generation Surface Pro, a device that’s “aimed at professionals,” as the company said.

Panay says that the ClearType HD display has been improved with 46 percent more color accuracy, making it better than most of the other tablets on the market. At the same time, the device is 95 percent faster that most laptops, while the graphics performance has been improved by 50 percent.

The overall performance of the device is 20 percent better, Panay has explained during the Surface event held in New York. Battery is also said to be improved by 75 percent.

The Surface Pro 2 doesn’t come with a Windows logo, but with a Surface branding that’s supposed to make the difference between the first- and the second-generation tablets.

"Surface Pro 2 is a very significant upgrade on top of that strength, with meaningful battery-life improvements so it lasts nearly a full workday, a dual-stage kickstand that works great on your lap, and even faster performance," Panos Panay explained.

Just as rumored, a 512GB version of the tablet will also be offered in order to provide buyers with more storage capacity.

The tablet can already be pre-ordered from Microsoft's website, while sales are scheduled to begin on October 22.

Update: here are the technical specifications of the Surface Pro 2.
